Municipal utility Erfurt integrates solar thermal technology into their energy mix

aaa

Solar district heating and district cooling are essential parts of the energy supply of the future. In mid-May, the first solar thermal plant in Erfurt was commissioned by SOLID. The solar system is part of a bigger project of municipal utility Erfurt and consists of flat collectors with an area of 535 m². 320 kW of thermal power are available to generate heat and feed it into the district heating network in Erfurt. Furthermore, operating experience should be collected in order to be able to make decisions for extensions on this basis.

Solar thermal systems make a significant contribution to the heat supply for cities and for achieving the climate goals. Energy security and long-term price stability are other reasons to switch to solar district heating.
