SOLID climatizes hospital in Nicaragua with a large solar thermal plant: It is the first solar thermal project financed by a soft loan
SOLID installs a big solar thermal plant for air conditioning and warm water supply at the “Hospital Militar Dr. Alejandro Dávila Bolaños“ in Managua, Nicaragua.
In 2015, the latest and largest hospital of Nicaragua with 400 beds opened in the capital of Managua. A collector area of 4,450 m² will be installed, which can cover the total warm water demand, and cover a considerable amount of the air conditioning system. The planning, installation, and commissioning –to be turnkey ready – will be provided by SOLID in cooperation with the Austrian project partners Caverion and GREENoneTEC.
The lighthouse project at the hospital in Managua was developed together with the UNIDO and the “National Cleaner Production Centre of Nicaragua” (NCPC). The export was financed by a soft loan, a financing instrument for developing countries, together with the OEKB as warrantor.
According to Dr. Christian Buchmann, Styrian economic secretary, the lighthouse project is a win-win situation. SOLID created economic value for the region of Styria, and the implementation is also an important contribution against climate change.
Large solar thermal plants with soft loan financing can also be implemented in other developing countries and contribute to efforts for sustainable development goals.
