By end of May 2015, SOLID signed the delivery contract for a 6 MW Absorption Heat Pump with TIGAS, an Austrian utility in Tirol. The Heat Pump will be used for harvesting 2.5 MW of heat at 40°C that was dissipated with cooling towers until today while providing cooling water at 30°C for the production process. The heat consumer of the system is a district heating grid at a target temperature of 90°C.

The driving energy for the heat pump is 170°C heat from the flue gas of a cupola oven at “Tiroler Rohre”, a cast iron pipe manufacturer.

With 6 MW thermal production, the project is the biggest absorption machine so far in the company’s history and a new milestone in industrial energy solutions from SOLID. Over 12 years of experience in large scale Solar Cooling allowed SOLID to win this international tender for an absorption machine with variable energy supply.
